ABOUT
Daniel Strommer is a musician, producer, community music facilitator and multidisciplinary artist based on Wadawurrung Country in Ballarat, Victoria. His lifelong connection to music began in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, where he commenced formal piano studies at the age of six with respected piano teacher Randall Bourchier before expanding into guitar, bass and drums. More recently, his creative practice has expanded to include live looping, ambient electronic music and multidisciplinary performance.Over more than four decades, Daniel has developed a diverse musical practice spanning songwriting, recording, live performance and community arts. In 2010 he produced his first EP of original music at Woodstock Studios in St Kilda. Throughout his career he has shared the studio and stage with respected Australian musicians including Andy McIvor (James Reyne, Taxi Ride), Andy Sylvio (Pete Murray, Dallas Frasca), Elizabeth MacFarlane (Miss Lizzy & the Night Owls) and Dave Foley (Tex Perkins, Archie Roach, Mick Thomas).Today, Daniel performs bass with Melbourne alt-country band The Distant South, works as a community music facilitator with Red Tree Community Arts, and is the founder and artistic director of Deadset Lovers, a collaborative performance project exploring music, place and artistic exchange through multidisciplinary performance.Across performance, community arts and creative development, Daniel's work is grounded in a belief that music has the power to create meaningful connections between people, place and shared experience.
